Celebration of Sacraments
Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism is the sacrament that takes away original sin, and makes us sons
and daughters of God. By baptism, we become members of the Church.
Arrangements for the Sacrament of Baptism are made through the Parish
Office. Please contact Deacon Mr. Richard P. Shubik at the Parish Office
for more information regarding parents instruction and scheduling.
Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday afternoons at 1:30 pm on the 2nd and
4th Sundays of the month.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Reconciliation is the sacrament through which God forgives our sins and
reconciles us with Himself and His Church. The sacrament is also called
the sacrament of penance, the sacrament of confession, and the
sacrament of forgiveness. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated
on Saturdays beginning at 3:45 pm until all confessions are heard. By
appointment, please call the Parish Office at (313) 885-8855.
Sacrament of First Eucharist
The Eucharist is the sacrament that contains the Body, Blood, Soul and
Divinity of Jesus Christ under the form of bread and wine. Sacramental
preparation for First Eucharist is a two-year consecutive requirement,
with the sacrament celebrated in the spring of the students second
grade year. Enrollment in the program is made by contacting Mrs. Judith
Jones, Director of Religious Education at (313) 885-7022.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacrament through which we receive the gifts and
fruits of the Holy Spirit, strengthening us to be witnesses of Jesus
Christ. Candidates for Confirmation complete a two-year required course,
with the sacrament administered by a bishop in the spring of the
students eighth grade year. Enrollment in the program is made by
contacting Mrs. Judith Jones, Director of Religious Education at (313)
885-7022.
Sacrament of Matrimony
Marriage is the sacrament that brings together a man and a woman in a
holy and lifelong bond so that, as a couple, they can grow closer to
each other and to God, and bring children into the world. St. Paul
Parishioners, please contact Rev.Mr. Richard P. Shubik (Deacon Rich) at the Parish
Office (313) 885-8855, at least six months in advance of the wedding
date for the required sacramental preparations.
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament that brings healing, comfort, and
strength, through the grace of the Holy Spirit, to those who are sick or
elderly. Please notify the Parish Office (313) 885-8855, of illness,
hospitalization, and nursing home status. Also, call the Parish Office
if arrangements need to be made for a Extraordinary Minister of Holy
Communion to visit the home.
Sacrament of Holy Orders
Holy Orders is the sacrament by which bishops, priests, and deacons are
ordained to carry on the mission of Jesus and His apostles. Those
considering the Sacrament of Holy Orders may contact (Very Rev.)
